Jacaranda Community Centre

Jacaranda Community Centre is a not for profit, grass roots incorporated community organisation that commenced operations on March 20th 2000 and received its notification of incorporation on May 9th 2000. The services provided by the centre were initiated to meet the needs of the people living in the City of Belmont and also Aboriginal people from the wider metropolitan area.

Vision and values

Jacaranda Community Centre is committed to:

Promote, enhance and maintain the welfare, education and cultural needs of people on low-incomes in Belmont and the surrounding areas.

Provide a safe and inclusive space to facilitate community participation and capacity building for families and individuals.

Provide information, resources, referrals, advocacy and support in the community to address housing and homelessness, health, legal issues, family functioning, debt and money management concerns.

Promote and develop partnerships within the community to raise awareness of the needs and issues of the Aboriginal community and the concerns for the community as a whole to Local, State and Federal Governments.

Achievements

2019: Established Practice Award — Financial Counsellors' Association of WA

Awarded to Lyndsey Fitzgerald and the Jacaranda Community Centre team.

2016: Consumer Protection Award — Department of Commerce

Richard Fletcher Award.

Governance

Jacaranda Community Centre is a not for profit Public Benevolent Institution with tax concessions, FBT Exemption and Income Tax exemptions. It is also endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient. Jacaranda Community Centre is audited annually by an Independent Auditor.
